Floodlights consist of three parts: optical components, mechanical components, and electrical components. The optical components primarily consist of the reflector and light-limiting screen. The mechanical components primarily include the housing, the focusing mechanism that secures and adjusts the light source, the bracket and base that secure the fixture, and components with angle indicators that adjust the beam direction. For most sealed floodlights, the mechanical components also include protective glass and various seals. Depending on the operating environment, some may also have a metal mesh cover. High-performance floodlights also include an air filter. The electrical components primarily include a ballast, capacitor, and trigger (depending on the light source).
