Cutting frame moving head lights are primarily used in scenarios requiring precise light control and the shaping of specific visual imagery.

1. Creating Geometric Shapes:

• This is the most fundamental function. It can project clear geometric patterns such as rectangles, triangles, circles, and diamonds into the air or onto the stage, used to structure the stage space and create a strong visual impact.

2. Replacing Traditional "Profile Spots" :

• In television studios and theater stages, traditional profile spots are used for highlighting (Face Light) hosts and actors. Cutting lights can completely replace them and are more powerful: they can remotely adjust the size, shape, and edge softness of the beam without needing manual adjustment by a technician on a ladder.

3. Building Visual Elements:

• By integrating with video and LED screens, cutting lights can "cut" beams that match the shapes of the video content, enabling seamless interaction between light and video, enhancing the three-dimensionality and immersion of the content.

4. Scanning and Dynamic Effects:

• Utilizing their powerful horizontal/vertical rotation capabilities, multiple cutting lights can perform synchronized, fast, and powerful scanning movements, creating dynamic and energetic visual effects, commonly seen during the opening and climax of concerts or electronic music festivals.

5. Cutting Object Contours:

• True to its name, it can precisely "cut" out the contour of an object (such as a singer, instrument, or sculpture contour), separating it from the background, highlighting the subject, and creating a strong dramatic sense.

Core Functions (How is it achieved?)

Cutting lights achieve the aforementioned purposes through the following set of complex functional modules:

1. Optical Cutting System (The core of the core)

• This is where it gets its name. The fixture interior has multiple sets of movable metal blades (shutters), typically at least four (top, bottom, left, right). Advanced models may have five or even eight blades, allowing for more complex angles.

• By controlling the precise position of these blades, virtually any desired rectangular or polygonal beam shape can be created.

2. Gobo Wheel

• In addition to using blades for cutting, cutting lights usually have multiple gobo wheels containing metal or glass pattern wheel (gobos).

• Metal Gobos: Project solid geometric patterns or simple textures (like window panes, wavy lines).

• Gobos: Can project complex, colored patterns with gradient details (like leaves, clouds, logos, abstract textures).

• The gobos can be rotated to create dynamic effects.

3. Color System (CMY Mixing + Color Wheel)

• CMY Mixing: Uses Cyan (C), Magenta (M), and Yellow (Y) color filters. By varying the insertion ratio of these filters, almost any desired color can be mixed smoothly and richly (similar to printer principles). Note: Correction from original text - CTO is a specific color correction filter, while CMY is the comprehensive mixing system used in these fixtures for full color range including warm tones.

• Fixed Color Wheel: Additionally, there is a color wheel pre-loaded with highly saturated pure colors (like true red, deep blue, green) and some effect colors (such as ultraviolet), used for quick changes and high-impact.

4. Focus, Prism/Effects Lens

• Focus: Allows remote adjustment of whether the beam's edge is sharp or soft (blurry), meeting the needs of different scenarios.

• Prism: Typically has one prism wheel or 2 prisms wheel(e.g., 8-facet, 16-facet) that can split one beam of light into multiple identical beams, creating symmetrical, spectacular beam array effects.

• Effects Lens: Such as a frost filter, which can transform hard light into soft light.

5. Dynamic Movement

• Cutting lights possess very wide horizontal (Pan) and vertical (Tilt) rotation angles, with fast speed and precise positioning. This enables them to move quickly and accurately to any position on the stage.

6. Shutter/Strobe

• Can flash the light extremely rapidly, creating pulsating, strobing ( stunning/shocking) effects.
